60 pc people die from non-communicable diseases every year
Health and family welfare minister zahid maleque on Wednesday said non-communicable diseases are responsible for around 60 percent death in Bangladesh every year
At present non-communicable diseases have taken a serious turn in the country.sixty percent people are responsible for around 60 percent death in various non-communicable disease, including cancer,kidney,the country people are now outside the risk factors of non-communicable disease he said.
The minister was speking at a function of unveiling of Bangladesh NCD risk factor survey 2018 steps program
The director of NIPSOM prof dr Baized khoorshid riaz, also principle investigation of 2018 steps read out survey finding at the program. Health minister zahid maleque unveiled the survey finding
The survey was done in between september 2017 to june 2018 on 9900 adult of 18-69 year old in all geographical zones in Bangladesh. it found that about 90 percent of Bangladeshis take less then five servings of fruits and vegetables ,an amount globally consider as ideal intake of fruit and vegetables, finds as new survey,
the survey finds that over 48 percent of Bangladesh have unhlthy ditetary behavior of adding salt in their foods and over 28 percent people take any physical activity. moreover about 44 percent people use tobacco either puff or chew.
the survey found the Bangladesh are unaware about their blood suger level and cholesterol as about 71 percent people do not measure their lifetime 94 percent people never measure cholesterol in their lifetime
the survey found the 29 percent in urban and 24 percent of rural people are hypertensive ,13 percent people in urban and 7 percent in rural people have diabetes while 32 percent of urban and 27 percent of rural people have raised cholesterol.
The survey showed that 97 percent of Bangladesh are at risk of getting non-communicable diseases.
